Disney’s Beauty and the Beast – The Broadway Musical

official-bb-postcard_cimb.jpg

I have to say, of all the Disney princess cartoons, I love Beauty and the Beast the most. I cannot get sick of the cartoon, no matter how many times I watched it. Basically, I love everything about it – the music, the costumes, the backdrops, the characters…well, EVERYTHING. I mean, no offense to the rest of the princesses, but Belle is just the best. Maybe it’s the color of the hair…hmm..

Anyway, the Broadway Musical is coming. OMG it’s coming! I think it’s a must see. My sister watch this Broadway in the states, and she wants to watch it again when she comes back – and her comment; ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

Tickets aren’t all that expensive really. For more details go to the TicketCharge website.

It’s a must see I think. If you have that extra money to spare…why not go see? :)

Macro dives in Asia Pacific

It has been a while since I last went for a dive. The last one was back in July 07. *gosh*. I guess I need to submerge myself in the sea soon. Seriously. Anyway, I bought the 2nd volume of the Australasia ScubaDiver magazine – mainly coz of humpback whales and sharks and mantas and all the big sea creatures.

This volume features macro dive. I think I’ve always prefered macro dives as opposed to micro dives. Although I must say, some of the small sea creatures are really cool; I am dying to see a pygmy seahorse, all the beautiful nudibranches, crabs, prawns, etc. However, I think I have eyesight problem. It could have been my contact lenses not working well enough behind my mask. Or maybe I’m just not good at catching small stuff. Hence with big stuff, it would be very difficult for me to miss them.

I would loveeeeeee to meet macro sea creatures. I’ve seen Manta Rays gliding by, above me, below me and around me. It is magnificent. And after that dive, I have been dying to see more of these big fishes. From a certain angel, it would also appear that the manta ray is smiling at you. No joke. It’s just lovely. :)

Manta Ray – gliding

Asia Pacific is one of the world’s greatest place to catch all these fishes. Here are some of the featured places where you can go find big fishes – here, I’ll just write a few; well, at least the ones I want to see *teehee*. And I bet they are expensive too. But anywayyyyyy…here are some of the featured places.

Tonga – HUMPBACK WHALES! According to the magazine, there aren’t a lot of places in the world where you can jump into the water with a humpback whale and Tonga is definitely one of the places. Because of the whole issue against whaling activities (but some countries like Japan who is still into it – argh), rules and regulations have been implemented. (Read more about whaling activities – International Whaling Commission). But I’m dying to dive with one of these whales. They are HUGE! And you know how they say when you are underwater, everything is so much bigger – which makes it extra cool I bet. :)

Humpback whales

Queensland, Australia – well, Great Barrier Reef. Need I say more? It is definitely one of the top diving spots in the world. Here, you would get to see tiger sharks, turtles definitely, but the one that interests me is the dwarf minke whale. Cute… :)

South Australia, Australia – There are 2 featured sea creatures in South Australia; Sea lions in Hopkins Island and Great White sharks in Neptune Islands. I would love to see sea lions. Just by looking at the pictures, they look absolutely adorable and I bet they would be fun to dive with.

Sea lions – cute!

Diving with great white sharks…not too keen about it. I do know of a person who did that and he say it is just so adrenaline pumping he didn’t really want to look at the shark. You would be diving in a cage of coz…but still. I think I’m not exactly ready to have the great white charging at me. They are one of the world’s most dangerous predator around.

There’s the cage with you in it…

…and there’s the shark. (nope, don’t think I can do this)

Nusa Penida, Indonesia – Mola-mola! Well, Bali (that’s where I see the Manta Rays) is also one of the world class dive site ppl go to and it’s one of the few places where you get to see this oceanic sunfish. It is the world’s biggest bone fish and the time to go see them is from August through October. Some say they are ugly, I just think they are wayyyy cute. I didn’t get to see them the last time coz it’s not the season, but I’m hoping as I plan a dive trip to Bali, I’ll be able to catch the sight of them. :)

There are a lot of other featured places in this magazine. You can also check out the website for ScubaDiver.

Well, these are all great stuff. I haven’t got a lot of money to do all this yet…but I’ll be working smarter to earn more. :) If you are into diving as well, you would know how tempting it is to just wish you can fly to all these dives sites, and dive to see all these beautiful sea creatures. Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

P/S: MAN U WON! WOOHOOO! I’m all excited now! YAY! :D May they get the title! 2 TITLES! YAY! For those anti-Man U ppl – BOOYAAA!

Disappointed

How does one feel when they are being let down? How does one feel when nothing seems to be going right? Work? R’ship? Self satisfaction? Here’s how you might feel;

  • suddenly, all lights are turned off and you are in a pitch black place
  • you are now all alone with no one to hang on to
  • problems start to come together all at once
  • breathing becomes a difficulty
  • you need to be away and detach yourself from the world
  • you wish and pray very hard that everything would be good again –> work, r’ship, self satisfaction

I need to let loose. I need a breakthrough and breakfree. or maybe…I just need to breathe.

Speak Up

You are unhappy with your work. You are unhappy that your pay is crappy. You are dragging your feet to work everyday. You allow this unhappiness to take control of you life. My advice: Do something about it.

Everyone has their share of being de-motivated at work. There are several reasons to that:

  • Not reasonably paid – in relations to your workload or the market
  • Forced to do sucky job – but if reasonably paid, it’s still negotiable
  • Colleagues leaving – those good ones especially
  • Self satisfaction at work
  • There could be more…you can make your own list

Hence, what do you do about it? You talk things out with your boss. Express yourself. Speak up. You are bound to be heard. If you are not heard, maybe it is not the place for you to stay. Move on then. You’ve got nothing to lose if you’re not happy with the job.

As what Steve Jobs have said “You’ve got to find what you love” and he has definitely found his. Here’s some excerpt from his speech which is rather inspiring;

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

-Steve Jobs-

(Steve Jobs’ Commencement, June 12, 2005, Stanford University)

Btw, great speech. So you see, it again rolls down to what you want. And as what Steve Jobs have mentioned, your intuition and your heart has already know what you truly want. I think it’s just a matter of taking that bold step and making it happen. You haven’t got a lot of time now you know…why wait?

And again…it’s not just applicable for you job. It’s applicable to your entire life. Again, you haven’t got a lot of time. Do what’s best for you and the best will eventually come to you.

All you need is one

6 billion people, 6 billion souls and sometimes, all you need is ONE.

Enough said.

Original

Ever so often we hear ppl say, “Nah…this can’t be done”. Ever so often we hear ppl say, “How is this even possible?”. Ever so often we hear ppl say, “This idea just doesn’t make sense”. Ever so often, we hear ourselves saying that. Now, how sure are you that certain things cannot be done? Are you sure that certain things are really that impossible?

Paul Arden, author of “It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be” talks about doing the impossible. He talks about creativity, thinking differently, being bold by taking risk. And to top it all, it is all about how good you want to be. Really.

Having a job is a fashion. No? Everyone has a job. It’s just a job. Step outside and take a look around. Majority of us are trying to stay in fashion; buying the latest clothing line, wearing the latest accessories, owning the latest fashionable gadget, making sure you have a job – it’s all about staying in fashion, it’s all about being no different from this other person standing next to you. But why? Why follow the trend when YOU can be the trend? Why can’t we all be original?

Originality has it’s risk – as what Paul Arden has said. It’s about being different, thinking out of your comfort zone, and just trying new things. Be creative. Be controversial. Be everything that is not the fashion. So what if you fail? Stand up and try again. A lot of successful people failed numerous times before succeeding. Why are we so afraid of mistakes and failures? Why think of it as a negative threat? Think from another angel. Mistakes and failures make you learn. It makes you think how you can make it different to be a success. And so the saying goes – learn from your mistakes. No one says you cannot fail, nor did anyone says you cannot make a mistake. You just learn from your mistakes and make a change.

There are a lot more to this book than just what I have briefly written about. It’s things you know…but not things you might want to do. I, for one don’t mind trying – certain things at least. Let me just leave you with a quote (brilliant);

‘It’s better to fail in originality, than succeed in imitation’

Herman Melville

It’s all in your hands. Get this book and read it. Some of the pictures that illustrates certain concepts are just amazing.

Washing cars

Yes…when you own a car, you are suppose to keep your car clean. Or so my mother say. Well, I’m not exactly the world’s most hardworking person, hence, I don’t wash my own car. Which then puts me in the position where I admire those ppl who washes their own car…every weekend. Yes, every weekend.

In this place I stay, there are a few car owners that washes their car whenever they can. We have this place designated for residents here to wash their car, and for most of the time, you’ll be seeing that it’s the same old ppl. My car for one, would not be seen in that designated area.

Not only do they wash cars…they POLISH them. I seriously salute these ppl. I’ve always wanted to go interview them…just to understand what is their motivation for washing cars. I have no motivation whatsoever. When I was younger, I use to have the motivation to wash my dad’s car – but that’s coz we are being paid. AND we get to play with water.

I salute you, frequent car washers. Hats off. How I wish I can have the motivation just to do that…so that my mum won’t nag me about keeping my car clean. (And paying RM4 to go through that car wash thing…isn’t really a good choice, though I must say I do that pretty often).

Classic KFC Brewer

Still remember one of these? I was clearing up my stuff yesterday when I found this KFC brewer coin box in my cupboard. It’s the one where some music would be played when you put a coin into the coin box. I mean the music device is not working now, but I seriously cannot believe I still have this! I must have been like…what…8 years of age perhaps, when I own this. *teehee* Gosh, I seriously do keep stuff!
