I’m sure most of you have heard of the song “Here in my home“, produced by Pete Teo and is sung by a group of Malaysia artistes for unity. It’s been aired on the radio generally every hour if you tune into hitz.fm or flyfm (I’m not sure about mixfm and lightfm though). Wellllll…I’m sorry, but I can’t seem to connect to this song. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. A friend of mine couldn’t connect to the song as well and has written a post in his blog about it.
Someone then posted the link to this post in the MAFU forum and WALAAA… Controversy is born! I was reading the messages posted in that forum and ~60 ppl have shown love for this song. Suddenly, when the link to my friend’s blog is posted in the forum…BOOM! It has provoked a certain someone. The message that was posted by this particular person was…not very nice. I wouldn’t call it nasty, but it is bad enough and it appears to be very hypocritical as oppose to what the MAFU were promoting.
I posted a comment on the forum as well, and my comment really is that; everyone has a right to have their own thoughts. One cannot expect to please everyone and expect everyone to AGREE with you that this is one hell of a great song. We humans are all different when it comes to preferences.
Yes, it’s a great concept – promoting the unity concept I mean. Promoting unity through a song sung by Malaysian artistes – excellent idea. Content in that song (lyrics and melody) – might not suit the taste of everyone. Hence, why start cursing? Why the fuss? Why start being so emotionally upset about the whole critic/comment? It is…just another critic from another individual. *shrug shoulder*. What is the big deal?
This sort of proves one thing about humans – we don’t take critics very well. At this point, some of you might say… “Wow… no no no… I’m all for critics”. But really, think again. Most of us become very defensive when it comes to taking in critics or bad review. But why? Why take it as a negative vibe? Why can’t we take it as a challenge? We will be challenged all the time until we kick the bucket. If someone comes in and say “Hey, that’s not all that good”, why can’t we take a step back, take a look at what we have created, take time to understand the critics that was thrown to us and make further evaluation?
If the critics make sense, learn from it and make the change. If it does not make sense, we shall then agree to disagree then. End. There’s really no fuss about it, no hard feelings, no need to get all worked up. There’s no need to explain your stand and so forth. It’s really agreeing to disagree and there’s really nothing wrong with that.
Again, why get so worked up about all these to begin with? The whole world cannot be agreeing about the same thing…right? And furthermore, this is a SONG. Liking a song becomes very subjective because it’s a very individualistic preference. Not everyone likes heavy metal… or rock… or… Oh well. I’m proud to say that… I don’t fancy this song either. It’s not to my liking – especially the lyrics. I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone on this. Again, it’s just a personal preference. I like the idea of promoting unity though.
Go check out the MAFU site. Perhaps you might like the song. You can download the song and check out the video online as well. Cheerios!
P/S: YAY! Man U won the Champions League Title! Hurray!!!
