job security

Do job security ever exist? I fear not. Everyone that works for someone literally has got no job security. Well, maybe a 2-month job security. Or is it 1-month? A week? A day? Nonetheless, the time period is basically insignificant that one can literally say job security does not exist.

The assumption is that if I work for a company which appears and is said to be stable, then my job should be secure. If I have a lot of work to do, the company would not fire me – coz the assumption is that if I have “work” to do (the more the better), then I am a “value” to the company.

Ermm… Yea right.

I think most of us overlooked the fact that people can be replaced. There may be certain skills that are empowered by certain people who are unique, but in general, most of the stuff we do daily, can be done by another person if being trained properly. If you think you are better, there is someone else who will be better than you. We are replaceable. If we are replaceable, how is it possible that we have job security?

And then there is the economic turmoil. Organization crashes itself into the economic turmoil and people lose their job – overnight. So, job security? Reality check – job security does not exist.

In a nutshell, it doesn’t matter if you’re working extra hard right now coz to begin with, you’re replaceable and working extra hard for 2 months will not stop the company from firing you becoz if you suck at your job, they know.

You can disagree. These are just my 2-cent thoughts.
