i’m cominggggg!

:) Absolute cuteness :)

yet another porky attempt

When I say I wanted to make an English Pork Pie, I didn’t know how it would taste like, nor did I know it is served COLD. Yes, cold (just reading about the fact that I didn’t know pies can be served cold simply proves I’m Asian). In true honesty, I haven’t even heard of a pork pie. Hence, I’ve got to go read up about it if I want to make them. After searching and reading on the Internet and gathering information about the English Pork Pie from an Englishman, I manage to pull it off.

Tadaaa!

This is my first time eating a savory pie served cold. I must say, I was surprised that it’s nice! It’s even better if you eat them with some Ploughman’s Pickles. I should have put more jelly pork in the pie though. I think it would have been better. Nonetheless, I thought it was good. And I have gotten thumbs up from the people I served it to. So, for now it’s all good.

;)

p/s: I’m surprised that crumpets are actually quite nice as well.

a porky attempt

I’ve always wanted to make beef wellington. I haven’t eaten a beef wellington at any restaurants before, so I don’t know how it should taste like. Then again, meat wrapped in ham and mushroom puree, baked in puff pastry; it has got to taste good right?

So, I make an attempt on this recipe today, substituting beef with pork.

The natural flavors of the mushrooms, pork and ham blend so well together. It is absolutely lovely. Only salt and pepper is used to season everything during the cooking. I wasn’t particularly happy when attempting to cut the wellington though. The puff pastry sorta came apart. Might have baked it a tad too long. Or maybe the mushroom puree wasn’t dry enough.

Overall, I thought it tasted good. And someone second that. So it’s all good. ;)

So here it is, my attempt on the pork wellington.

the piano

I have been having a love and hate relationship with my piano for the longest time. More love than hate though, since 1988. I’ve somehow neglected her ever since I started working. I play it on and off, but not often enough. Playing it today makes me realize how rusty I am. You won’t ever forget the notes, or how to play the piano once you know how to, but the playing isn’t all the smooth anymore. Super rusty.

I should play more often. I really should. I almost forgot how playing the piano calms me down. It is my go-to place when I’m in that super emo mode, and it allows me to release my emotions in any way I want. She is a friend who express how I feel in music. Nice.

on 2 wheels

Cycling has been one of the activities I do with my sisters when we were younger. Our parents have taught us how to cycle since we were young, and we’ve been cycling ever since. We not only cycle for fun, but I sometimes cycle to attend tuition classes or piano lessons.

As we all grew older, cycling got kicked out of our normal routine. I stopped cycling altogether. I have a bicycle, but due to the lack of usage, the tires went flat, and became unusable even if I tried to inflate it. The body, crank and chain has rusted over the years, and the bike has became a junk, sitting outside my house for the longest years.

I never thought I would get a bike and cycle again. Just a couple of months ago, I was introduced to one of the most basic bikes, a fixie. This fixed gear bike was meant for people who wants to do tricks and stunts like the ones people do with a BMX. But switch it around to a free gear bike and you’ve got yourself one of the most basic bikes, no gears, single brake; it is how people in the olden days would ride their bike.

After much persuasion from a certain someone, I got a new bike. After many many years of not riding a bike, I felt a little nervous. It felt almost as though I have never known how to ride a bike. On my first few rides, I fell off my bike, twice. Embarrassing? Yes. I guess after those 2 falls, I became more comfortable. Now, I can confidently say that I feel attached to my bike when I’m riding on her.

For the past 2 weekends, a group of us have been riding around Georgetown. It wasn’t until yesterday when I realize that Penang truly is beautiful. With the restoration of some of the heritage buildings, it is no wonder that Georgetown was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Being a Penangnite myself, it is such a shame of me to take things for granted, thinking that Georgetown is yet another ordinary town.

I’ve been enjoying every little bit of my biking activities these days. It makes me stop and look at the surroundings around me, embracing the beauty of this place, providing me with a whole new experience which is unlike the one I have when driving a car. Awesome.

And here, a pic of my bike sitting under a statement made by Zang Toi about Georgetown. ;)

a mini *woot*

:)

Never would I have thought THIS would happen to me but one of my Hollywood photo was actually picked to be featured in the 16th Edition of the Schmap Los Angeles Online Travel Guide. *woot*

I’m no professional photographer and I’m nowhere near being a professional. So to have someone recognize a photo I took is truly an honor. Although it is not for any big time mag, I still think this deserves a mini *woot*. hehe.

p/s: Here in China for 2 weeks. Flight was TORTUROUS. One of my flights delayed for 2 freaking hours. I lost count of the number of times I got sick. If only I can tele-port. As usual, Facebook, Twitter is not available. Well, thank god for VPN.

green little cutie pie

cut the rope

Cut the Rope – one hell of a game. I think I’ll rate this better than Angry Bird! ;) And I love that cute little green frog/monster/alien. He loves candies.

butterfly

I came home to a butterfly today. It looks pretty.

Yes, I’m bored.

[UPDATE: The butterfly stayed the night. Died this morning. Must have been the cold wind at night. RIP butterfly]

p/s: loving my 50mm f/1.8 lens.
